This February, CancerCare recognizes National Cancer Prevention Month, in addition to World Cancer Day on February 4. The theme this year for World Cancer Day is “Close the Care Gap.” While it is important to reflect on the advances in cancer prevention and care – including screenings, early detection services, treatment advances as well as the emotional support available in coping with cancer for individuals and their loved ones – we also recognize the work that must be done to close the gaps in health care disparities.

In recognition of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, CancerCare oncology social workers, Lauren Chatalian, LCSW, Director of Advocacy, and Sam Fortune, LMSW, Women’s Cancers Program Coordinator, share advice for individuals and their loved ones on coping with cervical cancer.

CancerCare’s 19th Annual Lung Cancer Walk for Hope took place on November 6, 2022. More than 200 people participated in the 5K walk to honor the memory of loved ones lost to lung cancer, celebrate survivors and support those who are currently facing a lung cancer diagnosis.

This month, we’re excited to highlight CancerCare’s Policy team. The Policy department plays an integral part in advocating for public policies that improve the lives of people affected by cancer through treatment and beyond.

On May 8, 2019, 200 of CancerCare supporters gathered at the Park Savoy in Florham Park, NJ, to celebrate CancerCare’s 31st Annual Festival of Hope Gala. Health care industry leaders, philanthropists and friends of the organization raised funds to support CancerCare’s free services for anyone affected by cancer.
