CancerCare® Offers Transportation Assistance Grants for Cancer Patients
NEW YORK (March 21, 2016) – CancerCare, the leading national nonprofit organization providing free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer, is pleased to announce renewed funding for the “CancerCare Get You There” transportation assistance program. Funded in part by a generous contribution from Celgene Corporation, this program will provide individual grants to eligible patients with metastatic breast cancer, pancreatic cancer and squamous cell non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) to help offset transportation costs associated with their treatment.
“A cancer diagnosis is a very difficult time for many families financially, and costs such as transportation often prevent our clients from receiving proper treatment,” said CancerCare Director of Patient Assistance Programs Jane Levy. “Thanks to Celgene, these grants will help alleviate some of the financial stress for people coping with cancer.”
People receiving financial assistance also have access to the full array of CancerCare’s services, including counseling, support groups, resource referrals and educational publications and workshops. The robust network of support services offered by CancerCare can have a significant impact on the patient, as well as the entire family.
"I received with great happiness your check for transportation aid to my cancer treatment,” shares Vicki, a grant recipient from Texas. “Your help is very timely and I feel there are many out there who care."
