CancerCare® Receives $400,000 From The Mary Kay Foundation

NEW YORK (February 27, 2018) – CancerCare®, the leading national nonprofit organization providing free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer, is pleased to announce the continued availability of financial assistance for women with cancer thanks to a generous contribution from The Mary Kay Foundation. Since 2000, the Touching Hearts Program, generously supported by The Mary Kay Foundation, has made it possible for CancerCare to provide direct financial assistance to help women with any cancer diagnosis cover treatment-related costs, such as transportation, homecare and child care.

“Women coping with cancer face numerous immediate medical, financial and logistical concerns,” shares Vilmarie Rodriguez, LCSW, Director of Patient Assistance Programs at CancerCare. “In addition to managing their own medical care, many women still bear primary responsibility for childcare and household needs during treatment. Thanks to this generous contribution from The Mary Kay Foundation, CancerCare is able to provide much-needed, extra support to help women coping with cancer.”

The Mary Kay Foundation aims to eliminate cancers affecting women and to end the epidemic of violence against women. The organization was founded in 1996 by Mary Kay Ash, after her husband passed away from lung cancer.
