CancerCare® Receives $800,000 Grant from The New York Community Trust

CancerCare®, the leading national nonprofit providing free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer, recently received an $800,000 grant from The New York Community Trust to provide financial assistance to low-income New York City residents and their families who are facing cancer.

“We are so grateful for the amazing support from The New York Community Trust for over 25 years,” said CancerCare CEO, Patricia J. Goldsmith. “The fund has provided support to over 50,000 of the neediest New York families experiencing a diagnosis of cancer.”

“We are proud to be able to fund the great work of CancerCare as it provides essential services to low-income cancer patients,” said New York Community Trust Program Officer Rachel Pardoe. “Our support is a direct result of the generosity and vision of Orland and Frances Greene, who created a permanent fund with us in 1962 to help people with limited financial means battling cancer.”

The New York Community Trust, one of the country’s largest community foundations, supports charities in the New York metropolitan area. Since the 1980s, The New York Community Trust has donated over $20 million in support of CancerCare’s mission.
