CancerCare® Adds Harvey Shapiro, Managing Partner at Sargoy, Stein, Rosen & Shapiro, to Board of Trustees

CancerCare, the leading national nonprofit organization providing free support services to anyone affected by cancer, is excited to welcome Harvey Shapiro to their Board of Trustees.

After his wife was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer, Mr. Shapiro was introduced to CancerCare by his friend and fellow board member Marsha Palanci. Mr. Shapiro’s wife received individual counseling and support until her passing in fall 2020. “Before her death, my wife identified CancerCare as an organization to which people could make contributions in her memory,” he shared. “I have seen firsthand how impactful CancerCare's services can be for people living with cancer, and it makes my work with the organization all the more meaningful. It is a privilege to be joining the Board of Trustees.”

“We are delighted that Harvey Shapiro will be lending his experience and knowledge to our board,” said CancerCare CEO Patricia J. Goldsmith. “His passion and insights will be immeasurably valuable to CancerCare as an organization and to the thousands of clients we serve each year.”

Mr. Shapiro is managing partner at Sargoy, Stein, Rosen & Shapiro, a law firm based in Manhattan, where he has spent over three decades of his career. He has also served on a committee for the New York City Ballet and was a board member for Her Justice, a nonprofit organization offering pro bono legal services to women living in poverty in New York City.
