CancerCare® CEO Christine Verini Named as Cancer Health 25: People Who Power Clinical Trials

Cancer Health Spotlights Leaders Who Are Helping to Innovate and Expand the Reach of Clinical Trials

CancerCare®, the leading national nonprofit organization providing free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer, is pleased to share that Christine Verini, the organization’s Chief Executive Officer, has been named to Cancer Health’s list of 27 people championing clinical trials and working to improve the lives of people living with cancer.

In 2023, CancerCare launched www.myTRIAList.org, a clinical trial finder that helps patients find trials based on location, among other criteria and offers first-person accounts, doctor interviews, tutorials and more. This vital resource is a partnership spearheaded by Verini and Lisa Hefner, Group President of Brightly Network Companies (including blend.works), who was also co-named by Cancer Health 25.

“We’re really excited about this initiative,” Verini said. “We are passionate about helping people be a part of clinical trials.”

Only 5% of cancer patients enroll in clinical trials. These trials help to find better ways to diagnose, prevent and treat cancer. Empowering patients with the information they need in clear language helps them to make informed decisions about their options. Increasing the percentage of participants who enroll in clinical trials may lead to better treatment options for everyone.

Clinical trials are not available to 50% of people with cancer at their current treatment location. The myTRIAList Trial Finder displays clinical trials by geographical distance in any U.S.-based location, providing patients with the nearest options.
