CancerCare Hosts Women’s Meet and Greet in Honor of National Women’s Health Week

alt text To recognize National Women’s Health Week (May 12 – 18, 2019), CancerCare’s Women’s Cancers Program hosted a Women’s Meet & Greet on Wednesday, May 15 at our national office in New York City.

This event provided an opportunity for women with cancer at any stage to connect, learn and support other women who have also been diagnosed with cancer. It was a powerful and moving event, where 12 women shared their challenges, as well as positivity.

“Our first Women’s Meet & Greet was definitely a success,” said Lauren Chatalian, LMSW, CancerCare’s Women’s Cancers Program Coordinator. “It provided a safe space for these women to open up and share things that their friends or family may not understand because they aren’t experiencing it firsthand.”

The evening began with an open discussion and light refreshments, followed by some healing arts and crafts. Each woman was given a wooden heart to take home, to remember that they are not alone in their journey, as well as a gift bag.

CancerCare’s Women’s Cancers Program acts as a primary, comprehensive source of support, information and guidance for women facing cancer and their loved ones. Call 1-800-813-HOPE (4673) to learn more about CancerCare’s Women’s Cancers Program.
