February 4th is World Cancer Day. 18 years ago, World Cancer Day was created to raise political awareness of cancer and to work towards decreasing prevalence of cancer by the year 2020. Update: CancerCare’s Hurricane Relief Programs
Although it has been over four months since Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria made landfall in the United States, many are still reeling from the after effects and are in the process of rebuilding. In these communities, some people still do not have access to basic necessities, such as electricity and clean water. In response, CancerCare, in partnership with the Community Oncology Alliance, raised almost $665,000 in direct financial assistance for people with cancer who have been impacted by the recent hurricanes.

Rachel originally entered the lottery for the 2017 New York City Marathon for fun and she was surprised when she was selected. After being picked, she began the daunting process of training for 26.2 mile run.
